Dr. Friedmann, FAAD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained dermatologic cosmetic
surgeon at Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery and Clinical Research Director and
founder of the Westlake Dermatology Clinical Research Center. Dr. Friedmann completed his
medical training with honors at the University of Florida, followed by a dermatology residency
at the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine Division of Dermatology in
Greenville, North Carolina and served as co-chief resident during his final year. Dr. Friedmann
subsequently completed a dermatologic cosmetic surgery fellowship sponsored by the American
Academy of Cosmetic Surgery at Goldman Butterwick Fitzpatrick Groff & Fabi, Cosmetic Laser
Dermatology in San Diego, California.
Dr. Friedmann is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for
Dermatology Surgery, and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, as well as a
member of the American Venous and Lymphatic Society and diplomate of the American Board
of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine. He has presented nationally and internationally on
nonablative fractionated resurfacing, photorejuvenation, noninvasive fat reduction,
radiofrequency devices, up-to-date techniques in photodynamic therapy, the management of
stretch marks, and the treatment of hand, chest, and facial veins. He has also written multiple
textbook chapters on tumescent liposuction, laser resurfacing, under-eye circles, the laser
treatment of pigmentation, and the management of lower extremity veins.
Dr. Friedmann has been involved in numerous clinical trials covering all facets of cosmetic and
medical dermatology, such as for the treatment of scarring, acne vulgaris, plaque-type psoriasis,
abnormal leg veins, aging hands, hair loss, melasma, localized fat reduction, stretch marks, and
skin laxity.
Dr. Friedmann was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and speaks Spanish fluently. He has a number
of varied interests, including traveling, basketball, classic movies, and computer assembly.
