One of the most common melanoma skin cancer solutions is surgical excision. During this procedure, Dr. Vineet Mishra will remove benign moles, cysts, lipoma, melanoma, or malignant growths together with the bordering tissue, which might seem to be healthy. The excised (or removed) skin sample will be given to a pathologist for additional testing to find out whether or not the remaining area is cancer free. In case the tissue turns out to be cancerous, then another procedure would be needed to eliminate all cancer. Restoration Dermatology consults with our Nashville, TN individuals regularly to determine whether surgical excision is the perfect treatment alternative for their condition.

The length of your downtime and recovery could vary, depending upon the location and severity of the particular excision, in addition to whether skin grafts were needed to finish your treatment. After your surgery, you may experience a burning feeling or general irritation in the area where the melanoma was removed. For your first couple of days after the procedure, you are advised to use an over-the-counter medicine, such as acetaminophen, to relieve pain. You can also anticipate some scarring that will be red initially but will lighten over time. Various creams or gels may be used to help limit scarring. In order to protect the wound, a bandage should be placed on the treatment area while in the sun.

Excellent experience. Will absolutely recommend Restoration Dermatology to everyone and will definitely be back for further services. Thanks for such an easy and comfortable appointment.

I was able to get in very quickly and discuss my concerns with a few moles that I have. Dr. Mishra put me at ease and assured me they were benign, but also gave me some options for removal if it was something I wanted to do in the future. I didn’t feel pressured for unnecessary procedures, in fact he seemed very against doing anything that wasn’t 100% necessary which was a nice change from some other doctors. I’m recommending my husband to him as well for his rosacea.

Whenever you see a skin lesion that looks abnormal, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible. The growth could be cancerous and the earlier it's discovered, the greater your chance for success. An excision could be necessary and could remove all of the cancer before it begins to spread to surrounding body parts and skin. Excision also allows cells to receive further testing, which might confirm whether or not all of the cancer has been eliminated. Make an appointment at Restoration Dermatology as soon as you can to meet with Dr. Mishra who will analyze the expansion, discuss family and medical histories, and present all options, including if surgical excision is the right treatment for you.
