WHAT TYPES OF CHEMICAL PEELS ARE OFFERED?
We provide chemical peels at various levels (light, medium, and deep) to meet our patients' skin concerns and goals.
Superficial Peels: You can receive a light chemical peel during your lunch hour and be back to your routine with no down time. This level of peel will remove the outer layer of your skin (the epidermis), giving your face a more radiant appearance and a softer texture. This peel is gentle enough that you can do weekly for ideal glowing results.
Medium Peels: This level of chemical peel goes further into your skin, and patients generally decide to have this strength of facial rejuvenation treatment during a long weekend. There may be some increased discomfort during and up to one hour after treatment. Medium-depth peels are best for patients who have significant damage to their skin, like deeper lines and darker pigmentation problems.
Deep Peels: The strongest of the three types of peels is the deep chemical peel, and it will require the most recovery time. This is an aggressive procedure that can leave your face swollen, peeling, and itchy for up to ten days. Patients who get a deep peel may have age or dark spots, sun-damaged skin, prominent acne scars, and deep scars. WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER A CHEMICAL PEEL
LIGHT CHEMICAL PEEL
After a light chemical peel, the treated skin will be radiant and glowing. As the dead skin cells are shed, the treated area reveals fresher, more radiant skin beneath. Moisturizing regularly and avoiding direct sun exposure are essential to maintaining desired results. You can resume your normal activities immediately, but it's crucial to use sunscreen to protect your newly treated skin. Immediately, your skin will look smoother and brighter.
MEDIUM CHEMICAL PEEL
After a medium chemical peel, you can expect more pronounced redness and swelling, similar to a sunburn, which may last for up to 4-5 days. Your skin will likely start to peel significantly within 48 hours, revealing new, smoother skin underneath. This peeling process can last up to 7 days. It is important to keep your skin moisturized and protected from the sun during this time. You may need to take a few days off work or social activities as your skin heals. Once the healing process is complete, you should notice a substantial improvement in skin texture, tone, and overall appearance.
DEEP CHEMICAL PEEL
After a deep chemical peel, expect significant redness, swelling, and discomfort, which can last for up to ten days. Your skin will undergo intense peeling, and you may experience crusting or scabbing as it heals. It is crucial to follow your aesthetician’s aftercare instructions closely, including keeping your skin moisturized and protected from the sun.
